Forgiveness Does NOT Mean You Have to Trust Them Again | #67
Watch
Does forgiving someone mean you have to trust them again? In this episode of Transitional Clay , Barry Harper tackles an important distinction Christians can sometimes struggle with: Forgiveness and trust are not the same thing.
Forgiveness can release the weight and turmoil you're carrying because of an offense. But forgiving someone doesn't necessarily mean immediately giving that person full access to your life again.
Trust may need to be rebuilt. Barry points to Jesus' example of forgiveness and then explores John 2:23–25, where Scripture describes people believing in Jesus while Jesus did not entrust Himself to them because He understood what was in their hearts.
Barry also shares a personal story of being deeply hurt by someone he respected. He chose forgiveness, but rebuilding trust took time—and the other person's actions eventually demonstrated genuine love.
