Leadership Lessons From Disney Movies: What Moana and Steve Rogers Teach Us What does someone who worked at NASA see in Steve Rogers? Why does a breast cancer thriver who spent five years getting clear on her purpose connect with Moana?
And which character did a woman choose after building a company in her garage and selling it for millions? Sparkers, that last answer is staying with me until you hear it from her.
In this November preview of Mosaic Sparks™ with Lesley George, I’m giving you a first look at the conversations coming your way. We use Disney and Marvel characters to talk about leadership, confidence, finding your purpose, and building a business.
I ask guests which character they see themselves in and what made them choose that person. The fun starts when someone names a character you’ve watched a dozen times and makes you want to go back and watch the movie again.
Steve Rogers and the leadership choice to speak up One of our November guests worked at NASA. When she told me who she identifies with, she was very clear about the name.
Steve Rogers. The man behind the shield.
She sees herself in the way he champions people, and that had me thinking about the chances we get to do the same thing at work. Picture a meeting where a colleague offers an idea and the room moves on.
Ten minutes later, someone else says the same thing and suddenly everybody’s taking notes. A simple “Let’s go back to what she said earlier” can put her name back where it belongs.
That’s the kind of leadership I’m curious about in this conversation. Who do you speak up for when they’re out of the room?
Whose work do you make sure gets named when you have a seat at the table? Moana and finding your purpose when you’re still figuring it out Another guest is a breast cancer thriver who sees herself in Moana.
It took her five years to get clear on her purpose. I wanted to give those five years some room.
The sentence “I found my purpose” takes a few seconds to say. Think about all the ordinary Tuesdays it took to get there.
Maybe people keep asking what’s next for you and you’d love to know the answer yourself. Maybe something you used to want feels different now, and you’re trying to understand why.
This conversation is for anyone who has felt pressure to explain a chapter they’re still living through. What’s one thing you can do this week that feels worth doing, even while the bigger picture is taking shape?
From a garage business to a sale worth millions Our third featured guest started her company in a garage and sold it to Avery Labels for millions. The number gets your attention.
I want to take you back to the garage. What did she see in her idea when she was still working on it at home?
What did she learn about herself as the company grew? If you’ve ever looked at something you started on your kitchen table and wondered whether people would pay for it, you’ll want to hear this conversation.
She picked a character she sees herself in, too. Go ahead and make your guess before the interview comes out.
I’ll let her tell you who it is and why that character made sense to her. Your turn, Sparkers Which Disney or Marvel character reminds you of yourself?
Give me the scene that made you pick them. Maybe it’s the moment they finally speak up.
Maybe it’s the scene where they admit they need help. You could learn something about what matters to you from the scene you keep coming back to.
If a friend sent you this episode, ask for their pick before you share yours. A character you both grew up watching might start a conversation you’ve never had.
