Girl, Take the Trip!

Thank for listening. Let me know what you liked best.

What happens when you become so good at handling everything that you forget to enjoy the life you worked so hard to build? In this episode of Mosaic Sparks™ , Lesley George explores that question through the lens of Tiana from The Princess and the Frog and a month filled with travel, community, celebration, and reflection.

After attending a conference, connecting face to face with people I have connected with online, and traveling to Jamaica for a wedding and vacation, Lesley began thinking about the emotional cost of always being the responsible one. Many women know that role well.

You are dependable, capable, organized, strong, and usually the person everybody calls when something needs to be handled. Over time, that strength can quietly turn into a life where joy keeps getting pushed to “later.” This conversation goes deeper than taking a vacation.

It asks what happens when being needed becomes part of your identity, why some women feel guilty when they are not being productive, and how easily success can become a collection of responsibilities instead of a life that actually feels good to live. Lesley also explores what travel can reveal when you step outside your normal routine.

Sometimes leaving home long enough to slow down shows you things that your schedule has been covering up. You may realize how tired you have been, how much you miss genuine connection, how long it has been since you laughed without watching the clock, or how unfamiliar it feels to simply enjoy something without needing it to accomplish anything..

Then Jamaica brings another layer to the conversation. A wedding becomes a reminder that joy deserves intention too.

We rearrange our lives quickly for emergencies, yet many of us postpone celebration until everything is handled. The problem is that everything may never be handled.

That leads to one of the biggest questions in the episode: If you looked at your calendar for the next six months, is there anything on it that you are genuinely excited about? This episode is especially for the woman who has spent years showing up for everybody else, the woman who rarely asks for help because she has learned how to carry things well, and the woman who keeps telling herself she will rest, travel, reconnect, or do something for herself once life settles down.

You do not need to abandon responsibility to enjoy your life. You may need to stop allowing responsibility to consume every available part of it.

If you have ever said, “I will do it later,” “I cannot go because I have too much to do,” or “I will take the trip when things calm down,” this conversation may hit differently. Press play and ask yourself what you actually want to remember about this season of your life.

Because the inbox will refill. Another deadline will come.

Somebody will always need something. Girl, take the trip.

Your life cannot be all responsibility. Topics in this episode: women over 40, midlife travel, women and responsibility, work life balance, women in leadership, community building, rest without guilt, joy after 40, success and fulfillment, meaningful travel, Jamaica, personal growth, confidence for women, Unbox Your Brilliance™ , BRAGG™ Support the show Thank you so much for tuning in to Mosaic Sparks!
