Sparked by 50 Cent's comments about not wanting to be a 60-year-old rapper, Ern questions why hip-hop continues to treat age like an expiration date. If the music is still good, should it matter whether the artist making it is 22, 42 or 62?

The conversation expands into what it actually means to be “hot” in today's culture. Are streams, followers, viral clips and algorithms true measurements of impact—or have we started confusing popularity with greatness?

Ern also challenges the idea that bars and lyricism should be redefined simply because hip-hop has entered a different generation. Instead of throwing away the blueprint created by previous generations, why shouldn't younger artists build on it and take the art form even further?

Most importantly, what should mature hip-hop sound like? Instead of veteran rappers pretending they're still 25, why can't they give listeners music about growth, survival, prosperity, family, success and the perspective that comes from living?

Hip-hop grew up. Its audience grew up.

Maybe it's finally time we allow the artists to grow up too.
