Who Deserves Access to You? How to Set Boundaries That Protect Your Worth | Dr. Katina Talks S5E4
Episode Subtitle Season 5 finale. You get to choose too.
Learn how to respect other people's choices, recognize relationships where care only flows one way, and set honest limits without giving up your peace. Episode Description Who deserves access to you?
When Dr. Katina was a kid in Camden, New Jersey, she played kickball with a group of neighborhood kids.
Two kids would step forward as captains and take turns calling names while everyone else waited to be picked. She remembers standing there with her hand up, hoping to hear her name.
What she missed then was that nobody elected those captains. They stepped forward and started choosing, and she had the ability to be a captain, too.
In the Season 5 finale of Dr. Katina Talks, she explores what changes when you stop waiting to be chosen and start making choices that reflect your worth.
She shares what she has learned from leaving a relationship that hurt her, from estrangement, and from carrying the feeling that she owes a debt for existing. She talks openly about how that feeling can make it hard to know when you have given enough.
You will hear four lessons to help you decide who has access to your time, your energy, and your care. Lesson 1: You can recognize an old role without continuing to live by it.
Lesson 2: Being chosen is only part of the decision, and care has to move in both directions. Lesson 3: You can respect someone's choice without giving them unlimited access to you.
Lesson 4: Protecting your peace means being honest about what you can give. A note from Dr.
Katina: I am taking some time away from the podcast to give my attention to health matters at home. I do not have a return date yet, and I will share an update when I do.
