When Self-Care Starts Feeling Like Work
What happens when taking care of yourself starts feeling like another thing you're supposed to be good at? Somewhere along the way, self-care became a list of routines, rituals, and expectations—and suddenly we could feel like we were failing at taking care of ourselves.
In this episode, Cori explores what happens when wellness becomes another form of performance and why sometimes taking care of yourself means doing less, not adding another task to the list. Together, we look at the difference between caring for yourself and managing yourself, and what it can look like to actually listen to what you need instead of following someone else's version of wellness.
Because self-care isn't another test you have to pass. Sometimes the most caring thing you can do is stop trying so hard to do it “right.” Today's Reflection What do I actually need right now?
Not what should I need. Not what would look good on Instagram.
Not what worked for someone else. What do I need?
And then ask yourself: What is one small thing I can do to honor that need? It doesn't have to be impressive.
It doesn't have to be productive. It just has to be honest. ⭐ If This Episode Resonated With You If The Melanin Wellness Podcast has helped you feel seen, understood, or a little less alone, please take a moment to leave the show a rating.
