JIMMY Premiere Special: Christopher McDonald, Jen Lilley, KJ Apa & Aaron Burns
To celebrate the theatrical release of JIMMY on November 6, I'm bringing together four conversations on The Buzz – BuzzWorthy Radio exploring the life of legendary actor Jimmy Stewart and the making of the film. Christopher McDonald joins me to discuss portraying Lionel Barrymore, working alongside KJ Apa, and witnessing the emotional depth KJ brought to his performance.
We also revisit Christopher's voice work as Jor-El in Superman: The Animated Series and his return as Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore 2 . Jen Lilley discusses portraying Gloria Stewart, the revelations surrounding Jimmy's experiences during World War II, and how KJ captured Stewart's unmistakable voice and mannerisms.
She also shares why she believes his performance deserves Academy Award recognition and discusses the return of her charitable initiative, Christmas Is Not Cancelled. PLUS: I'm revisiting my earlier conversations with director Aaron Burns and KJ Apa.
Aaron explains why he wanted to tell this particular chapter of Stewart's life, the involvement of Stewart's daughter Kelly, and the incredible experience of being entrusted with Jimmy's actual Academy Award. KJ Apa, whom I spoke with at the Falling premiere in New York City, discusses the responsibility of portraying Jimmy Stewart and why having Stewart's daughter involved in the production was both reassuring and nerve-racking.
Four conversations. One extraordinary story.
JIMMY arrives in theaters November 6, 2026.
