Episode Summary In this episode of Redefining Love 2.0, Patrice Washington sits down with Vasavi Kumar, Columbia-trained therapist, author of Say It Out Loud, and founder of The Out Loud School, to explore the power of using your voice without fear, guilt, or apology. Together, they unpack why so many high-achieving women confidently speak up professionally but silence their needs, desires, and boundaries in personal relationships.

Through honest reflections on their own experiences, they reveal how people-pleasing, fear of rejection, and the need for approval can lead to self-abandonment. Patrice and Vasavi explore what it means to speak your truth without being attached to someone else's response, communicate your needs without making demands, and become comfortable with silence instead of constantly explaining or proving yourself.

This conversation is a reminder that honoring your voice is an act of self-love—and the right relationships won't require you to shrink, perform, or silence who you truly are. Questions to Ask Yourself: Where am I staying silent about what I truly want or need because I'm afraid of someone's response?

Do I use my voice confidently in public but struggle to speak my truth in personal relationships? Where am I overexplaining, overgiving, or trying to prove my worth instead of trusting myself?

What truth have I been avoiding because speaking it out loud might require me to make a difficult decision? What would change if I trusted myself enough to speak honestly without needing everyone to agree?
