We'd love to hear from you “Anti-inflammatory” is everywhere right now, and it’s easy to walk away thinking inflammation is the enemy behind every health problem. I wanted to slow that down and test the claim like a patient would, using a Harvard Health report as the starting point and a simple question: what does the evidence actually say, and what should we do with it?
Here’s the twist that changed how I think about it: inflammation isn’t automatically bad. Acute inflammation is part of how your body heals and protects you.
The real concern is chronic inflammation, when the system stays switched on like a smoke alarm that never stops blaring. From there we dig into what “linked to” really means in research and why “involved in” is not the same as “causes,” especially when we’re talking about complex conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
We talk through the everyday factors that can influence inflammation and overall metabolic health: a realistic anti-inflammatory diet built on familiar foods, movement you can sustain, sleep you protect, and stress you learn to manage before it becomes a long-term pattern. And because there’s a lot of money in keeping us scared, we close with a mindset shift: become a better consumer of health information, get comfortable saying “show me the evidence,” and bring better questions to your next doctor visit.
If this helps you think more clearly about chronic inflammation and real prevention, subscribe, leave a review, and share it with a man who needs it. Want more resources from me as a prostate cancer survivor and patient advocate?
