Near the Threshold: Aréanah M. Preston

In this episode of Hunting 4 Answers : In May 2023, 24-year-old Aréanah Preston, a Chicago police officer and law student, returned home to the Avalon Park neighborhood on the city’s South Side after finishing her shift. Just steps from her front door, she was shot during what prosecutors would later describe as an attempted robbery.

Investigators soon linked multiple individuals to the case, connecting them to a series of crimes that same morning. In 2026, one of the men charged pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 55 years in prison, marking a significant development in the case.
