Second Summer Reflections: Black Joy, Sisterhood & Community
We’re back from Martha’s Vineyard and reflecting on our first Girl… Call Me Presents: Second Summer, a gathering of incredible Black women centered on connection, sisterhood, laughter and Black joy. What happens when Black women have the space to simply let their shoulders down?
We talk about the power of community, the importance of creating spaces where women can show up fully, and why even the most accomplished among us sometimes need someone to remind us just how great we are. Of course, it wouldn’t be Girl… Call Me without a few detours.
We get into the WNBA, Tanya’s unexpected workout, and the Airbnb catfish that almost derailed Second Summer before it even began. Before we release our special conversations recorded on Martha’s Vineyard, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the joy, vulnerability and sisterhood that made Second Summer so special, and why we need to keep showing up for, celebrating and reminding each other of our greatness. **Enjoying the show?
