There is no waiting period. Ask for a case number and investigator, inquire about a BOLO and ask about FBI involvement if circumstances are mysterious or there is kidnapping suspected.

After talking to law enforcement, call the NATIONAL CENTER FOR MISSING & EXPLOITED CHILDREN NCMEC. They have a hotline 1-800-The Lost.

They provide support, resources, and help with creating and distributing missing person posters. Keep your own detailed record of communications and anyone involved in the search.
