The Untold Story of T.I.’s I’m Serious With DJ Toomp, KP & D.L. Warfield

Twenty-five years to the day after the release of I’m Serious, T.I. reunites with three of the visionaries who helped bring his debut album to life: legendary producer DJ Toomp, executive and A&R Kawan “KP” Prather, and visual artist D.L. Warfield.

Recorded live, this special episode of ExpediTIously goes behind the music, imagery, strategy, and Atlanta culture that shaped the album. The group shares how T.I. met DJ Toomp, how KP signed him to his first record deal, why Tip became T.I., and how D.L. created an iconic visual identity with a first-album budget.

They also revisit early sessions, collaborations with Pharrell, Beenie Man and Too Short, T.I.’s work as a producer, the album’s initial commercial disappointment, and how I’m Serious ultimately laid the foundation for Trap Muzik, Urban Legend, and a legendary career. This is the untold story of the album, the team and the belief that helped change Atlanta hip-hop forever.
