Questlove Is the Curator Behind The Questlove Show
Drummer, bandleader, Oscar-winning filmmaker, cultural curator. Questlove brings all of it to The Questlove Show, where E-40, The Womack Sisters, and John Carpenter all get the same curious, tangent-friendly treatment.
Ask ten people what Questlove does and you get ten answers. Drummer. Bandleader. Filmmaker. Record collector with opinions. All of them are right, and The Questlove Show is where those jobs meet at one table.
Who he is
Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson is the drummer and co-founder of The Roots. He leads the band on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He is also an Oscar-winning filmmaker and what the directory's host bio calls a cultural curator. That last title fits the podcast best. A curator picks what goes on the wall and explains why it belongs there. Questlove does that with guests.
You can follow him on Twitter and Instagram. The show has its own account at @qls.
The show
The Questlove Show grew out of the award-winning Questlove Supreme podcast, and the feed goes back to November 2019. It runs on intimate, one-on-one conversations with peers, influences, and friends. The show's own description says each episode looks for the unexpected, from morning rituals and hidden talents to the art and experiences that shaped a guest's path.
The guest list stretches. Recent episodes include E-40, The Womack Sisters, and horror and film composer John Carpenter. A Bay Area rap legend, a soul family, and a filmmaker in one month tells you the curiosity runs wide. Older conversations come back as QLS Classic episodes, like Dr. Mathew Knowles.
The personality read
The directory has no long personal bio beyond his credits, so this read comes from how the show describes itself. It calls the conversations "sometimes playful, sometimes profound, always curious," and says randomness is encouraged and tangents are welcome. That is a host who would rather follow a good detour than stick to a question list. He also reacts to his own episodes. The newest upload is a reaction to the Vince Staples episode, so he keeps talking after the interview ends.
How you may know him
Most people meet Questlove through The Roots or late night television. Others know him from the film that won him an Oscar. This podcast lets those audiences overlap. Someone who came for the music ends up hearing him talk to a comedian, a writer, or a mental health voice, because the show covers music, film, television, comedy, literature, and mental health.
Is the show still going?
Yes. The Questlove Show is still active. The most recent episode went up on October 30, 2026, and the feed averages a new release every two to three days, with more than 500 episodes in the feed so far.
