Genise Fulton: Reinventing Life on Her Own Terms in Thailand

When Genise Fulton became a mom at 19, she assumed some of the life she imagined for herself would have to be put on hold. Years later, she’s proving that “later” doesn’t mean “never.” Now retired and living in Thailand, Genise is embracing a chapter centered around travel, wellness, fun, and—most importantly—herself.

From Mexico, where she obtained permanent residency, to Vietnam, Costa Rica, and now Thailand, she’s created a life that looks very different from the one she once thought was possible. In this conversation, we talk about early motherhood, retirement, travel, reinventing yourself, and what happens when you finally give yourself permission to live the life you once thought you missed out on.

And there’s a little plot twist: Genise and I first met in Bangkok in 2025, only to discover that we had once lived just ten minutes apart in New Jersey. Because apparently, we had to travel halfway around the world to meet. 😂 This is a conversation about embracing the chapter you’re in—and realizing there may be a whole lot more life waiting for you.
