Elisa Hernandez | La Dodgers Media | “I Win in Any Arena” | S7 EP 314

NFL Network to the Dodgers: How 2x Emmy Winner Elisa Hernandez Is Breaking Barriers in Sports Media What does it REALLY take to build a career in sports media? Before the cameras, the bright lights and the big interviews, there are long nights, behind-the-scenes jobs, rejection, networking, learning the business—and the determination to keep showing up.

On this episode of Black in Sports, we sit down with Elisa Hernandez, a trailblazing bilingual sports media personality, producer, reporter, host and 2x Emmy Award winner whose career proves that sometimes you have to create your own lane before anyone gives you one. A proud USC Annenberg graduate, Elisa earned her degree in Broadcast & Digital Journalism with minors in Communication: Sports Media and Business: Consumer Behavior.

Her journey through sports media is incredible. From starting at NFL Network as an intern and ticker operator to becoming a digital producer and editor, Elisa continued building her skills behind the scenes before stepping in front of the camera.

She eventually worked with NFL International, produced Spanish-language content, and helped build El Snap NFL, the NFL's U.S. Latino-focused Instagram platform.

She has worked across some of the biggest brands in sports, including the NFL, MLB, NBA, Spectrum SportsNet, NBC/Telemundo Deportes and the Los Angeles Dodgers. And yes—she has the hardware to prove it. 🏆 2x Emmy Award Winner 🎤 Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium Host 🏈 First Latina Team Reporter in Denver Broncos history 📺 NFL Network Digital Host & Producer ⚾ Dodgers Field Producer 🏀 Former Los Angeles Lakers In-Arena Host 🌎 Paris Olympics / Telemundo Deportes 🎙️ Creator & Host of Sports-Ish podcast 🎓 USC Annenberg Graduate 🇺🇸🇸🇻 Bilingual English/Spanish storyteller Elisa's production résumé is just as impressive as her on-camera career.

She worked as a field producer for the Dodgers, including producing interviews and content around the team's championship runs, and earned her second Emmy for her work covering the Dodgers' 2019 season. She later returned as a field producer during the Dodgers' 2020 championship run.

She also served as a host and editor-in-chief for , worked with Spectrum SportsNet, produced and edited NFL content, and covered Sunday Night Football and the Paris Olympics for Telemundo Deportes. Then came another history-making moment.

In 2024, Elisa became the FIRST Latina team reporter in Denver Broncos franchise history. But this isn't just a conversation about a title.

It's about representation, resilience, career development, breaking barriers and understanding how to turn every opportunity into the next opportunity. Elisa's story is especially powerful because she didn't take the traditional straight-line path to sports television.

She learned the business from the ground up—production, editing, digital media, social media, hosting and storytelling—before becoming the on-camera talent audiences see today. And now she's back with the Los Angeles Dodgers, continuing to build her legacy in one of the biggest sports markets in the world.
