Our eyes are a gift from God. They allow us to experience beauty, appreciate creation, and recognize things we enjoy.

But Scripture reminds us that what we see can influence what we desire. The lust of the eyes is not about simply seeing something or appreciating something beautiful.

The issue comes when what we see begins to shape our hearts in ways that move us away from God’s will. From Eve and the forbidden fruit, to Achan’s stolen treasure, to David and Bathsheba, Scripture shows us how what people saw influenced their choices.
